A Real Shih Tzu Grooming Transformation — At Home

Some of the most satisfying grooms are the simplest resets — a scruffy, overgrown coat brought back to a clean, comfortable finish. This adult Shih Tzu is a perfect example, and the whole thing happened at home, on a familiar floor, with no cage and no sedation.
The situation
When our groomer arrived, this was a classic long-coat Shih Tzu in need of a reset: the facial hair had grown right down over the eyes, the topknot was coming loose, and the coat around the face and body had turned scruffy and uneven. For a flat-faced, long-haired breed like a Shih Tzu, hair falling into the eyes isn't just untidy — it's uncomfortable and can irritate the eyes over time.
What the session included
Everything was done at home, calmly — just patient handling on a familiar floor. The session covered a warm bath with a pH-balanced, skin-safe shampoo and conditioner, a full blow-dry and brush-out, and careful shaping of the face and head so the eyes were clear again. The groomer tidied the topknot, evened out the body coat, and finished with nail clipping, ear and eye cleaning, and a sanitary and paw trim — the kind of full styling session that's typically our Full Service package (₹1,499).
The result
The difference is all in the face: eyes bright and visible again, a clean rounded teddy-bear shape, a neat topknot, and a soft, even coat from nose to paws. No shaving was needed — just proper de-tangling, bathing and scissor work — so this Shih Tzu kept that signature fluff, minus the mess. For the full breed routine, see our Shih Tzu grooming guide.
